English Version

Three Minutes of Noodles, a Lifetime to Ponder

Instant noodles only take three minutes.

Yet somehow, those three minutes can feel long enough to think about almost everything.

The water boils.
The noodles go in.
The lid goes on.

And then you wait.

03:00.

As the timer slowly counts down,
everything becomes a little quieter.

When we’re busy with work and everyday life,
there never seems to be enough time to think.

But give someone three quiet minutes while waiting for a bowl of noodles,
and somehow the mind starts wandering.

What am I doing after dinner?

What have I actually been so busy with lately?

Is this really how life is supposed to go?

Before the three minutes are over,
you may have already gone through an entire philosophical crisis.

Meanwhile, the note on the wall keeps things simple:

1. Eat
2. Sleep
3. Wait for Meaning

It looks like an ordinary to-do list.

But the more you look at it,
the more strangely accurate it feels.

Every day, we move from one small task to another.

We eat.
We work.
We sleep.
Then we wait for tomorrow.

We wait for things to get better.
We wait for answers.
We wait for the moment when everything will finally make sense.

Maybe that’s one of the quiet absurdities of life.

We often expect meaning to arrive during some great, important moment.

But sometimes,
it quietly appears while we’re waiting for instant noodles to cook.

No grand revelation.
No profound answer.

Just sitting there.

Waiting for the noodles to be ready.

And wondering, once again,
what exactly we’re doing with our lives.

Three minutes are up.

The noodles are ready.

The answer to life is not.

That’s okay.

Eat first.
